I don't know about you but I feel like I've been languishing these last few weeks, often known in the south as the "Dog Days of Summer." Yes, the heat has been oppressive, the humidity pretty much unbearable and I've found few reasons that I should venture outdoors. After all, air conditioning was created for our comfort, right?

It's August 1st and I am already WAY behind schedule this month. Only Mark's reminder in church this morning jostled my memory to post the newsletter on the website today. Ordinarily, I try to stay ahead of deadlines and such. However, July brought a fun-filled week of VBSers to our church and if you've ever volunteered for VBS, you KNOW how worn out you are at the end of that week! And that's seemingly where I got behind...

Is it hot enough for you? I'm pretty much a heat-weenie; I prefer the modern day comforts of air conditioning, a tall glass of lemonade and a good read to help me pass the day. But just because the days are lazy and long doesn't mean EHUMC has closed its doors for the summer. In fact, this next month promises to be as busy...if not busier...than many of the months when kids are in school. Vacation Bible School starts July 19th, and we're expecting a bumper crop of kids to blast off into the Galaxy.
